17 lane closures scheduled during week of Oct. 19-24 on Kaua‘i state roadways

Hawai‘i Department of Transportation announces the following 17 scheduled lane closures and road work projects on Big Island state roadways during the week of Oct. 19-24.

HIGHWAY 50

KĪPŪ TO ʻŌMAʻO

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Kaumualiʻi Highway possible in either direction between mile posts 2.9 and 8.7, in the vicinity of Kīpū Road and Piwai Reservoir, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Oct. 20-22 for striping.

LĀWAʻI

  • ROVING LANE SHIFT POCKET CLOSURE on Kaumualiʻi Highway possible in either direction between mile posts 9.5 and 10, in the vicinity of Akemāmā Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Oct. 20-24 for installation of new reflectors.

KŌLOA TO LĀWAʻI

  • SINGLE LANE SHIFT POCKET CLOSURE on Kaumualiʻi Highway possible in either direction between mile posts 4.5 and 9.5, in the vicinity of Piko Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Oct. 20-24 for cutting grass.

KALĀHEO TO ‘ELE‘ELE

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Kaumualiʻi Highway possible in either direction between mile posts 12 and 15.5, in the vicinity of Ola Pua Road and Ahe Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Oct. 20-24 for cutting grass.

  • ROVING LANE SHIFT SHOULDER CLOSURE on Kaumualiʻi Highway in the westbound direction between mile posts 31 and 32.9, in the vicinity of Kia Road and Kao Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Oct. 20-24 for vegetation clearing.

HIGHWAY 51

NĀWILIWILI

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Nāwiliwili Road possible in either direction between mile posts 0.0 and 0.8, in the vicinity of Waʻa-pā Road and Rice Street, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Oct. 20-24 for concrete sidewalk and curb work. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

HIGHWAYS 56/560

KAPA‘IA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Kūhiō Highway in the eastbound direction between mile posts 1.1 and 1.4, in the vicinity of Ma‘alo Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Oct. 23-24 for cutting grass.

WAILUĀ

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Kūhiō Highway in the southbound direction between mile posts 5.7 and 5.9, in the vicinity of Wailuā State Park to Kuamoʻo Road, from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 21 for concrete pour on Wailuā mauka bridge. Between 6a and 11:30a, there will be two southbound lanes from 6 to 11:30 a.m., one on the mauka Wailuā River Bridge and one on Wailuā Plantation Bridge. There also will be one northbound lane on Wailuā Plantation Bridge. After contraflow operations are taken down at 11:30 a.m., there will be two lanes northbound on the Wailuā Bridge and one lane southbound on the mauka Wailuā River Bridge between 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Kūhiō Highway possible in either direction between mile posts 8 and 9.5, in the vicinity of ʻAkia Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Oct. 20-24 for concrete and electrical work. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

KALIHIWAI TO PRINCEVILLE

  • SIDE POCKET SHIFT WITH INTERMITTENT LANE CLOSURE AS NEEDED on Kūhiō Highway possible in either direction between mile posts 24.4 and 28.1, in the vicinity of Kāhiliholo Road to Emmalani Drive, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Oct. 20-24 for striping.

PRINCEVILLE TO HANALEI

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Kūhiō Highway possible in either direction between mile posts 0.3 and 1.2, in the vicinity of Hanalei Plantation Road and ʻŌhiki Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Oct. 20-24 for fence and guardrail installation on Hanalei Hill. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

HANALEI

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Kūhiō Highway possible in either direction between mile posts 1.2 and 2.3, in the vicinity of Hanalei Dolphin Restaurant and Hanalei Bridge, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Oct. 20-24 for guardrail installation. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

WAIKOKO

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Kūhiō Highway possible in either direction between mile posts 4.6 and 4.8, in the vicinity of Waikoko Bridge and Lumahaʻi Beach, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 20-24 for soil nail drilling and grouting. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

PRINCEVILLE TO WAINIHA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Kūhiō Highway possible in either direction between mile posts 1 and 7, in the vicinity of Hanalei Plantation Road and Wainiha Powerhouse Road, from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Oct. 20-24 for cutting grass.

HIGHWAY 550

KŌKE‘E

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Waimea Canyon Drive possible in either direction between mile posts 4.6 and 11.5 from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Oct. 20-24 for shoulder reconstruction. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

HIGHWAY 583

KAPA‘IA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Ma‘alo Road possible in either direction between mile posts 1 and 2.5, in the vicinity of Cane Road, until 2:30 p.m. today (Oct. 19) for cutting grass.

HIGHWAY 5600

KAPAʻA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Kapaʻa Bypass Road in the westbound direction between mile posts 0.0 and 1, in the vicinity of Kūhiō Highway and Olohena Road, from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Oct. 20-22 for cutting grass. The single lane portion of Kapaʻa Bypass Road that runs southbound only will be detoured to Kukui Street.
