Update at 3:06 p.m. Oct. 14: National Weather Service forecasters in Honolulu canceled the high surf advisory that was previously in effect until 6 p.m. today for north and west shores of Kaua‘i and Ni‘ihau.

Original post at 4:32 p.m. Oct. 12: A high surf advisory is in effect for north- and west-facing shores of Ni‘ihau and Kaua‘i starting Monday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, a moderate-sized, long long-period swell will reach Kaua‘i and O‘ahu later this evening and around midnight on Maui tonight. This swell will produce advisory-level surf along many north and west-facing shores of the smaller islands by late Monday morning.

The advisory will be in effect from Monday morning through Tuesday afternoon to account for over double head high surf that should peak along many north- and west-facing shores early Tuesday.
