High surf advisory in effect for portions of Kaua‘i, Ni‘ihau starting Monday
A high surf advisory is in effect for north- and west-facing shores of Ni‘ihau and Kaua‘i starting Monday morning.
According to the National Weather Service, a moderate-sized, long long-period swell will reach Kaua‘i and O‘ahu later this evening and around midnight on Maui tonight. This swell will produce advisory-level surf along many north and west-facing shores of the smaller islands by late Monday morning.
The advisory will be in effect from Monday morning through Tuesday afternoon to account for over double head high surf that should peak along many north- and west-facing shores early Tuesday.
Surf as high as 12 to 16 feet along north-facing shores, and as high as 10 to 15 feet along west-facing shores.
Strong breaking waves and currents and will make swimming dangerous.
