Queen’s Bath on Kauaʻi closed through winter for public safety
Effective immediately, the access gate to Queen’s Bath in Princeville has been closed through winter in the interest of public safety, the Kauaʻi Fire Department announced Thursday morning.
“Access to the gate is closed due to hazardous ocean conditions and anticipation of the winter season,” Kaua‘i Fire Chief Michael Gibson said. “We urge the public that entry in these hazardous conditions can result in injuries or drownings, and neglecting these warnings places our first responders’ lives unnecessarily at risk.”
On Wednesday, U.S. Coast Guard and Kaua’i first responder crews searched waters offshore of Princeville for a 37-year-old man who went missing near a trailhead at Queen’s Bath.
