TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Traffic changes slated for 2025 Kaua‘i Marathon and Half Marathon
The 2025 Kaua‘i Marathon and Half Marathon is Aug. 31, starting at 6 a.m., and there are several traffic changes scheduled to accommodate the race and ensure the safety of runners, spectators and motorists.

Kōloa, Po‘ipū, Lāwa‘i and Kalāheo roadways will be impacted by a combination of lane closures, full road closures and partial restrictions from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Drivers are urged to plan ahead and use extreme caution when traveling in the area. Motorists should also allow for extra time to reach their destinations if traveling through the race area, as traffic delays are expected.
Road closures:
- Po‘ipū Road (Closed 5:15 to 6:30 a.m. from the Po‘ipū Roundabout to the Ala Kinoiki).
- Ho‘onani Road (Closed 4:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. from Lāwa‘i Road to Kapili Road).
- Kōloa Road (Inbound and outbound lanes closed 6:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. from Kaumuali‘i Highway).
- Lauoho, Waha and Pu‘u Roads (Closed to thru traffic 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.).
- ʻŌma‘o Road (Closed 6 to 9:30 a.m. from Kaumuali‘i Highway to Kōloa Road).
- Ala Kinoiki (Closed from 5:45 to 7:45 a.m.).
- Maluhia Road (Closed 6 to 8 a.m. between Ala Kinoiki and Kaumuali‘i Highway).
Partial closures:
- Kaumuali‘i Highway from Maluhia to ʻŌma‘o Road (Alternating one-way traffic from 6 to about 9 a.m.).
- Papalina Road (Alternating one-way traffic from Waha to Pu‘u Road from 7 to 11:30 a.m.).
- Ala Kalanikaumaka (Closed from 6:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., open to outbound traffic from Po‘ipū Roundabout to Kōloa Road).
Officers will be posted at key intersections.
