Arrest made in Kōloa burglary investigation

Kaua‘i Police Department arrested a 20-year-old Līhu‘e man in connection with a series of burglaries last month at Righteous Roots Smoke Shop in Kōloa.

Donald Clement was arrested Aug. 19 for three counts of second-degree burglary and an outstanding $150 bench warrant for failure to appear in another case.

A minor was also detained Aug. 21 for their involvement in two of the three burglaries.

While these developments mark significant progress in the case, the investigation is ongoing.

The burglaries took place during the early morning hours of July 10, 15 and 25, resulting in the theft of several thousands of dollars in merchandise.

“Mahalo to everyone who came forward with tips during this investigation,” said Assistant Kaua‘i Police Chief Darren Rose in the police news release about the developments in the case. “Your support continues to be vital in helping us hold individuals accountable and ensure the safety of our community.”

Anyone who has information related to these incidents is urged to come forward.
