A preliminary Kaua‘i Fire Department report says firefighters — upon their arrival about 5 minutes after receiving the call — discovered thick smoke coming from a shed. Bystanders had quickly extinguished the fire with fire extinguishers.

Firefighters remained on scene to make sure the blaze was fully extinguished, clearing the scene shortly after 7:15 p.m.

Cause of the fire remains under investigation.
