A high surf advisory is in place along south-facing shores throughout the Hawaiian Islands.
According to the National Weather Service in Honolulu, a moderate-sized, long-period south swell arrived Monday evening and will linger throughout most of Tuesday. Surf is expected to be 7 to 10 feet, then fall below advisory levels by 6 p.m.
However, another south swell arriving late Wednesday or early Thursday will lift south surf back up to advisory heights.
