Kīlauea community to look at site layouts in next town expansion project meeting
The community is collaborating with the Kauaʻi County Housing Agency to develop a master plan for the Kīlauea Town Expansion.
The master plan will seamlessly integrate the expansion with historic Kīlauea Town to create a vibrant, inclusive and sustainable community.
The expansion aims to tackle the pressing housing crisis while fostering economic growth through infrastructure improvements and the inclusion of commercial and industrial areas for the local residential workforce.
The master plan process has been a culmination of knowledge, ideas, and input from the community, agencies, and resource partners to develop a final conceptual design that is vetted by the residents.
The goals of the fourth community meeting include finalizing the site layout, talking about lot sizes and roadway design, and going over wastewater, traffic, archaeological and market analysis studies.
The fourth community meeting for the Kīlauea Town Expansion Project will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Anaina Hou Community Pavilion, 5-2723 Kūhiō Highway, in Kīlauea.
The meeting will be broadcast live on YouTube. Meeting materials will be posted on the project website after the meeting.
