Residents are reminded about the following guidelines for metal recycling:

  • All items must be free of all fluids and contain no batteries or other combustible materials.
  • Follow all instructions on site, including proper placement of white goods and scrap metal.
  • Refrigerators and freezers must be empty of food or other items. Shelving should be disposed of with normal refuse unless made of metal.
  • Material must be no greater than 3 feet in any dimension.
  • Metal recycling at county facilities is for residential use only. Residents are welcome to bring scrap metal and appliances free of charge.
  • Businesses must bring metal materials to the Puhi Metals Recycling Facility, located at 3951 Puhi Road, in Līhuʻe. The facility is open 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, for a fee.
