The Hawaiʻi Department of Health has canceled the brown water advisory issued for Hanalei Bay.

After heavy rain over the weekend, a brown water advisory was issued for Kauaʻiʻs north and northeast facing shores on Monday. Beachgoers were urged to refrain from entering murky or brown water, especially after a storm or heavy rain.

The state department recommends staying out of the water for 48-72 hours after the rain has stopped and after the beach has received full sunshine.

The brown water advisory for Wailua Bay remains in effect.
