REMINDER: Water service shutdown scheduled this week in Kalāheo

Kauaʻi County Department of Water reminds Kalāheo residents mauka of Kaumualiʻi Highway that water service will be shut down temporarily for part of this week.

The planned shutdown is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 23-24 to allow Hawaiian Dredging Construction Co. to connect a new water line as part of the Kalāheo Water Systems Improvements Project, weather permitting.

Service shutdown will be done in two phases:

  • PHASE 1, JULY 23: Puʻuwai Road, between Kīkala Road and Wāwae Road, including all branching roads, as well as Poʻohiwi Road and part of La‘e Road.
  • PHASE 2, JULY 24: Poʻohiwi Road and a part of La‘e Road.

Affected customers should prepare by:

  • STORING enough water to meet your needs until water service is restored.
  • NOTIFYING family, friends, tenants and neighbors.
  • ENSURING faulty water heaters do not empty during the shutdown.

Motorists also should exercise caution when driving through the service shutdown areas, follow directions of flaggers and adhere to posted signs.
