The Kaua‘i Bus celebrates National Rural Transit Day
The Kaua‘i Bus proudly joins transit agencies throughout the nation today (July 16) in celebrating National Rural Transit Day.

National Rural Transit Day underscores the importance of accessible, reliable transit in rural areas such as Kaua‘i, where many residents depend on public transportation to reach work, school, health care and other essential services.
The Kaua‘i Bus has long been a lifeline for the island, offering service from Kekaha to Hanalei and everywhere in between.
“Our mission is to provide safe, affordable and convenient transportation for everyone on Kaua‘i,” said Kaua’i County Executive on Transportation Celia Mahikoa in an announcement about the National Rural Transit Day observation. “On National Rural Transit Day, we celebrate not only our riders, but also the dedicated drivers, mechanics and staff who work hard to keep our community moving every day.”
As part of this year’s celebration, The Kaua‘i Bus is sharing community stories on its website and social media, highlighting the positive impact rural transit has on the lives of Kaua‘i residents.
Riders are encouraged to join the conversation by sharing their own experiences.
The Kaua‘i Bus also invites riders to take the brief The Kaua‘i Bus 2025 Rural Transit Day Survey regarding their experiences.
