Kaua‘i Island Utility Co-op shut off the home’s power, and first responders successfully extinguished the blaze, which was determined to have originated on the home’s first floor.

Fire Prevention Bureau investigators then took over to investigate. Firefighters cleared the scene shortly before 6:15 a.m.

Two structures on the property were involved in the fire, one of which was a total loss.
