Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation notifies motorists that adjustments are planned for today (July 3) to the morning contraflow on Kūhiō Highway and Kaumualiʻi Highway heading to Pacific Missile Range Facility in Kekaha.

Southbound Kūhiō Highway (Highway 56) contraflow between Kapule Highway and Kapaʻa Temporary Bypass Road will be closed from 11 a.m. — 15 minutes earlier than the typical weekday schedule of 4:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. — to allow a crew time to set up a lane shift on Kaumualiʻi Highway.

Kaumualiʻi Highway between ʻAkialoa Road and Lighthouse Road will be coned with a lane shift from 1:30 to 6 p.m. to allow two westbound lanes heading toward Pacific Missile Range Facility in preparation for its 4th of July celebration.

Motorists also are reminded that there will be no southbound Kūhiō Highway contraflow July 4 in observance of the holiday.
