Response continues to ongoing ‘cybersecurity event’ at Hawaiian Airlines
Hawaiian Airlines reported shortly before 8 a.m. today that it was addressing a “cybersecurity event” that affected some of its information technology systems.
As of 1 p.m., the airline was continuing to address the situation.
“We continue to safely operate our full flight schedule, and guest travel is not impacted,” said Hawaiian Airlines in a statement this afternoon.
The airline engageed appropriate authorities and experts to assist in its investigation and remediation efforts immediately upon learning about the incident this morning.
It remains in contact with those experts and federal authorities as it navigates the ongoing cybersecurity event.
“Our highest priority is the safety and security of our guests and employees,” Hawaiian Airlines said in a statement this morning.
USA TODAY reported that the Federal Aviation Administration said it is in contact with the airline and monitoring the situation: “There has been no impact on safety, and the airline continues to operate safely,” the agency added.
The Hawaiian Airlines “cybersecurity event” comes just a week after Canadian airline WestJet Airlines was hacked, causing glitches on its website and mobile app.
No further information or formal press release were available about the Hawaiian Airlines incident.
The airline said it will provide updates as more information becomes available.
