Kauaʻi Fire Department battling brush fire in Keālia
Update 8 p.m. Friday: The Kauaʻi Fire Department continues to battle a brush fire near Keālia that now is estimated at 5 acres and about 75% contained.
Original post: The Kaua‘i Fire Department is battling a brush fire in Keālia near Keālia Kai that was reported shortly before 3:25 p.m. on Friday.
As of 5:15 p.m., there are no threats to nearby structures and no reports of injuries, according to a news release from Kauaʻi County.
Officials estimate the fire to be 300 yards by 300 yards.
Crews with the Kaiakea Fire Station, Rescue 3, Air 1, Tanker 3, Truck 2, the on-duty Battalion Chief, Air 2 and the Kaua‘i Police Department are responding.
The Kaua‘i Emergency Management Agency and the Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative are also monitoring the incident.
There are no road closures at this time. Updates will be provided when more information is available.
