Learn about Hawaiʻi’s groundwater in upcoming webinar series

The Hawaiʻi Department of Health will host a free, four-part webinar series throughout June to educate the public on basic groundwater science and its role in Hawaiʻi

Organized by the department’s Hazard Evaluation and Emergency Response Office, the “Groundwater Basics” webinars will be held on Fridays — June 6, 13, 20 and 27 — from 11:30 a.m. to noon HST on Microsoft Teams. Each session will include a live Q&A with DOH scientists.

Topics will include:

• June 6: Groundwater and Its Importance as a Resource in Hawaiʻi
• June 13: Basics of Groundwater Flow
• June 20: Contaminant Transport in Groundwater
• June 27: Contaminant Plume and Aquifer Cleanup

Groundwater is a vital source of drinking water in Hawaiʻi, and the series is designed to deepen public understanding of groundwater science and its significance in Hawaiʻi.
