Scheduled Kaua‘i lane closures on state roadways for May 31-June 6

Hawai‘i Department of Transportation announces the following lane closures and road work projects for state roadways on the Garden Isle during the week of May 31-June 6.

KAUMUALI‘I HIGHWAY (HIGHWAY 50)

KĪPŪ TO ʻŌMAʻO

  • ROVING LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 2.9 and 8.7, in the vicinity of Kīpū Road and ʻŌmaʻo Road, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. June 1-6 for striping.

KŌLOA TO LĀWAʻI

  • RIGHT LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 5 and 10, in the vicinity of Kāhili Road and Akemama Road, from 12:30 to 6 a.m. June 2-6 for guardrail clearing and cutting grass.

‘ELE‘ELE

  • RIGHT LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 14.5 and 15.5 from 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. June 2-6 for guardrail clearing.

KAUMAKANI TO WAIMEA

  • RIGHT LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 19 and 22 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. June 2-6 for grass cutting and guardrail clearing.

RICE STREET (HIGHWAY 51)

LĪHU‘E

  • RIGHT LANE CLOSURE in the northbound direction between mile posts 0.0 and 0.9, in the vicinity of Waʻa-pā Road and Kapule Highway, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. June 2-6 for cutting grass.

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE in the northbound direction between mile posts 4.2 and 5.7, in the vicinity of Wailua Golf Course and Wailua State Park, from 1 to 6:30 a.m. June 2-4 for grass cutting.

WAILUA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE in the northbound direction between mile posts 5.6 and 5.9, in the vicinity of Wailua State Park and Kuamoʻo Road, from 8 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. June 3-5 for work on the Bryan J. Baptiste Bridge. Details: Click here.
  • RIGHT LANE CLOSURE in the southbound direction between mile posts 5.7 and 5.9, in the vicinity of Wailua State Park and Kuamoʻo Road, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 2-6 for Kauaʻi Utility Cooperative de-energizing high voltage power lines.
  • RIGHT LANE CLOSURE in the northbound direction between mile posts 6.2 and 6.4, in the vicinity of Papaloa Road and Lanikai Street, from 8 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. June 1-6 for construction along the highway.

KAPAʻA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 8 and 9.5, in the vicinity of ʻAkia Road to Keālia Lookout, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. June 1-6 for resurfacing, concrete and electrical work. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

KAPAʻA TO KEĀLIA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE in the southbound direction between mile posts 9.5 and 10, in the vicinity of Keālia Lookout and Māʻilihunā Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. June 2-6 for drain cleaning.

ANAHOLA TO MOLOAʻA

  • RIGHT LANE CLOSURE in the northbound direction between mile posts 15 and 18, in the vicinity of ʻAliomanu Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. June 2-6 for cutting grass.

KīLAUEA

  • RIGHT LANE CLOSURE in the northbound direction, between mile posts 21 and 22, in the vicinity of Kāhili Makai Street and Kaluamakua Place, from 4 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. today (May 31) for tree trimming.
  • ALL LANES REMAIN OPEN; however, Kolo Road intersects with Kūhiō Highway is closed at the intersection. The intersection will be closed 24/7 through the first week of July. PRINCEVILLE TO HANALEI

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 0.3 and 1.2, in the vicinity of Hanalei Plantation Road and ʻŌhiki Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. June 2-6 for pipe and gutter installation. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

HANALEI

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE in the westbound direction between mile posts 2.7 and 3.3, in the vicinity of Cin Tai Wai Road and ʻAnae Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 2-6 for concrete work. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

WAIKOKO

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 4.3 and 4.5, in the vicinity of Waikoko Bridge and Lumahaʻi Trailhead, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for slope stabilization of Waikoko Hillside. Traffic signal will control alternating traffic through the open lane. Details: Click here.

WAIMEA CANYON DRIVE (HIGHWAY 550)

KŌKE‘E

  • RIGHT LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 7 and 11, in the vicinity of Kōkeʻe Road and Papaalai Road, from 6 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. today (May 31) for tree trimming.
  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 11.5 and 14 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. June 2-6 for shoulder stabilization, grassing, guardrail and striping. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

KUAMOʻO ROAD (HIGHWAY 580)

  • RIGHT LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 1 and 2, in the vicinity of Cane Road, from 4 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. today (May 31) for cutting grass and tree trimming.

TEMPORARY KAPAʻA BYPASS ROAD (HIGHWAY 5600)

  • COMPLETE CLOSURE in the southbound direction between mile posts 0.0 and 0.7, in the vicinity of Kūhiō Highway and Olohena Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 2-6 for striping and marker installation. Details: Click here.
