The access gate to popular natural ocean pool Queen’s Bath in Princeville is closed until further notice because of hazardous ocean conditions and an expected northwest swell of 8 to 12 feet.

Kaua‘i Ocean Safety Bureau officials assess ocean conditions daily and will continue to close the access gate as needed throughout the year in the interest of public safety.

Staffing issues also led to the roving patrol at ‘Anini Beach being out of service today.

Entering the water during times of hazardous ocean conditions can be dangerous — especially in areas where access is closed or no lifeguards are stationed — and could cause serious injury or death.

“Beachgoers are advised to exercise caution in these areas,” the Fire Department said in its notice.

Speak to a Kaua‘i County lifeguard or call the Kaua‘i Ocean Safety Bureau at 808-241-4984 for updates.
