Scheduled Kaua‘i lane closures on state roadways for May 17-23

Hawai‘i Department of Transportation announces the following lane closures and road work projects for state roadways on the Garden Isle during the week of May 17-23.

KAUMUALI‘I HIGHWAY (HIGHWAY 50)

PUHI TO KĪPŪ

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 1.9 and 3.9, in the vicinity of ‘Ānonui Street and Haʻikū Airstrip, from midnight to 6 a.m. May 19-23 for cutting grass and guardrail clearing.

KĪPŪ TO LĀWAʻI

  • ROVING LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 2.9 and 8.7, in the vicinity of Kīpū Road and Pīwai Reservoir, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 19-23 for striping.
  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 2.9 and 8.7, in the vicinity of Kīpū Road and Pīwai Reservoir, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. May 18-23 for striping.

KALĀHEO

  • LANE SHIFT in the eastbound direction between mile posts 12.5 and 13, in the vicinity of Powerline Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 19-23 for tree trimming.

‘ELE‘ELE

  • RIGHT LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 14.5 and 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 19-23 for grass cutting and guardrail clearing.

KŪHIŌ HIGHWAY (HIGHWAYS 56/560)

LĪHU‘E

  • ROVING LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 0.0 and 1, in the vicinity of Rice Street and Laukini Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 19-23 for striping.

HANAM‘ULU

  • RIGHT LANE CLOSURE in the northbound direction between mile posts 1.5 and 1.6, in the vicinity of Nuku Street and Laukonā Street, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 19-21 for cutting grass.

HANAM‘ULU TO WAILUA

  • RIGHT LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 2.6 and 6, in the vicinity of Kāpule Highway and Kuamo‘o Road, from 1 to 6:30 a.m. May 21-23 for cutting grass.

WAILUA

  • RIGHT LANE CLOSURE in the northbound direction between mile posts 6.2 and 6.3, in the vicinity of Pāpaʻaloa Road and Lanikai Street, from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. May 22-23 for concrete barrier installation.

KAPAʻA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 8 and 9.5, in the vicinity of ʻAkia Road to Keālia Lookout, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. May 18-23 for resurfacing, concrete and electrical work. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

KEĀLIA TO ANAHOLA

  • RIGHT LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 9.9 and 13, in the vicinity of Mailihuna Road and Kukuihale Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 19-23 for guardrail repair.

KĪLAUEA

  • RIGHT LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 20 to 22, in the vicinity of Koʻolau Road and Kaluamakua Place, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 19-23 for cutting grass.
  • ALL LANES REMAIN OPEN; however, Kolo Road is closed at the highway intersection and will be closed 24/7 through the first week in July. Ttraffic is being routed to Hoʻokuʻi Road and Pili Road. Details: Click here.

KĀLIHIWAI TO PRINCEVILLE

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 24.4 and 28.1, in the vicinity of Kāhiliholo Road and ʻEmmalani Drive, from 8 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. May 18-23 for replacement of signs and markers.
  • RIGHT LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 25 to 26, in the vicinity of ʻAnini Vista Drive, from 1 to 6:30 a.m. May 19 for cutting grass.

PRINCEVILLE TO HANALEI

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 0.3 and 1.2, in the vicinity of Hanalei Plantation Road and ʻŌhiki Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 19-23 for pipe and gutter installation. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

HANALEI

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE in the westbound direction between mile posts 2.7 and 3.3, in the vicinity of Cin Tai Wai Road and ʻAnae Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 19-23 for sidewalk installation. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

WAIKOKO

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 4.3 and 4.5, in the vicinity of Waikoko Bridge and Lumahaʻi Trailhead, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for slope stabilization of Waikoko Hillside. WAIMEA CANYON DRIVE (HIGHWAY 550)

KŌKE‘E

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 11.5 and 14 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 19-23 for shoulder stabilization, grassing, guardrail work and striping. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

KUAMOʻO ROAD (HIGHWAY 580)

WAILUA HOMESTEADS

  • RIGHT LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 0.0 and 2, in the vicinity of Kūhiō Highway and Kahawai Place, from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 21-23 for cutting grass.

MA‘ALO ROAD (HIGHWAY 583)

KAPAIA

  • ROVING LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 0.0 and 2, in the vicinity of Kūhiō Highway, until 2:30 p.m. today (May 17) for cutting grass.

Lane closure schedules can change at any time without notice. All projects are weather permitting.
