All U.S. and Hawai’i state flags will fly at half-staff from sunrise to sunset today, May 15, at the state Capitol in Honolulu and all state offices and agencies, as well as the Hawaiʻi National Guard, in observance of Peace Officers Memorial Day and Police Week, May 11-17, as ordered by Gov. Josh Green at the direction of U.S. President Donald Trump.

The action pays tribute to law enforcement officers who tragically lost their lives while in the line of duty, serving and protecting others.

“Today we remember the fallen heroes who gave everything to protect our communities,” Green said in his announcement about lowering the flags. “Their sacrifice reflects an unmatched dedication to keeping us safe and their bravery will always be honored.

“We are forever thankful for their service, as well as for all of the law enforcement officers who continue to keep us safe.”
