Road work scheduled for various locations in Kalāheo

Kauaʻi County Department of Public Works officials and the project contractor are notifying the public that road closures and single-lane contraflow are scheduled for portions of Oni Place, Pānui Street and Maikaʻi Street from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 12-15, weather permitting, in Kalāheo.

The following traffic modifications are necessary for road resurfacing work:

  • MAY 12-13: Lane closures in place on Oni Place, from the Ka‘ikena Drive intersection to the end of the road, and Pānui Street, from the Oni Place intersection to the Pa‘i Street intersection. A single-lane contraflow will be in effect for the stretch between Ka‘ikena Drive and Pa‘i Street.
  • MAY 14-15: Lane closures will affect Maikaʻi Street, from the north intersection of ōpū Road to the south intersection of ōpū Road. A single-lane contraflow will be in effect for the full length of Maikaʻi Street.

Electronic message boards will be posted to inform motorists.

Officials ask members of the public to plan accordingly for the scheduled traffic modifications, allow extra travel time if they must use the affected roadways during construction and avoid parking in the work zones.
