Scheduled Kaua‘i lane closures on state roadways for May 10-16

Hawai‘i Department of Transportation announces the following lane closures and road work projects for state roadways on the Garden Isle during the week of May 10-16.

KAUMUALI‘I HIGHWAY (HIGHWAY 50)

KĪPŪ TO LĀWAʻI

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 2.9 and 8.7, in the vicinity of Kīpū Road and Piwai Reservoir on, Sunday, May 11, to Friday, May 16, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for striping.

KALĀHEO

  • RIGHT LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 10.9 and 11.5, between Lauoho Road and Silva Tract Road, from midnight to 5:30 a.m. May 12-16 for tree trimming.

‘ELE‘ELE

  • ROVING RIGHT LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 12.5 and 13.2, in the vicinity of Power Line Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 12-16 for tree trimming.
  • LANE SHIFT possible in either direction between mile posts 14.5 and 15.5, in the vicinity of Māhea Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 12-16 for grass cutting and guardrail clearing.

KŪHIŌ HIGHWAY (HIGHWAYS 56/560)

KAPAIA TO HANAM‘ULU

  • RIGHT LANE CLOSURE in the northbound direction between mile posts 1 and 2, in the vicinity of the Laukini Road and Hanamāʻulu Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 15-16 for cutting grass.

WAILUA

  • RIGHT LANE CLOSURE in the northbound direction between mile posts 6.2 and 6.4, in the vicinity of the Papaloa Road and Lanikai Street, from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. May 15-16 for concrete barrier installation.

KAPAʻA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 8 and 9.5, in the vicinity of ʻAkia ʻākia Road to Keālia Lookout, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. May 11-16 for resurfacing, concrete and electrical work. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
  • RIGHT LANE CLOSURE in the northbound direction between mile posts 9.9 and 10.2, in the vicinity of Mailihuna Road to Keālia Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 12-16 for guardrail repair.

KīLAUEA

  • ALL LANES REMAIN OPEN; however, county road Kolo Road that intersects with the highway is closed at the intersection. The intersection will be closed 24/7 through the first week in July. To access Kīlauea town, traffic is being routed to Hoʻokuʻi Road and Pili Road for work on the roundabout. Details: Click here.

KĀLIHIWAI

  • RIGHT LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 23.8 and 25 from 1 to 6:30 a.m. May 13-15 for cleaning culverts.

KĀLIHIWAI TO PRINCEVILLE

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 24.4 and 28.1, in the vicinity of Kālihiholo Road and ‘Emmalania Drive, from 8 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. May 11-16 for replacement of signs and markers.

PRINCEVILLE TO HANALEI

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 0.3 and 1.2, in the vicinity of Hanalei Plantation Road and ʻOhiki ʻōhiki Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 12-16 for pipe and gutter installation. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

HANALEI

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE in the westbound direction between mile posts 2.7 and 3.3, in the vicinity of Cin Tai Wai Road and ʻAnae Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 12-16 for sidewalk installation. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

WAIKOKO

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 4.3 and 4.5, in the vicinity of Waikoko Bridge and Lumahaʻi Trailhead, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for slope stabilization of Waikoko Hillside. WAINIHA

  • RIGHT LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 6.4 and 6.7, in the vicinity of ‘Ananalu Road and ala ‘Eke Road, until from 1 to 6 a.m. May 12-14 for bridge work.

WAIMEA CANYON DRIVE (HIGHWAY 550)

KŌKE‘E

  • RIGHT LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 7 and 8 from 6 a.m. to noon today (May 10) for tree trimming.
  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 11.5 and 14 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 12-16 for shoulder stabilization, grassing, guardrail work and striping. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

MA‘ALO ROAD (HIGHWAY 583)

KAPAIA

  • RIGHT LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 0.0 and 2.5, in the vicinity of Kūhiō Highway, until 2:30 p.m. today (May 10) for cutting grass.
  • RIGHT LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 1 and 2, in the vicinity of Cane Road, until 2:30 p.m. today (May 10) for cutting grass.
