Department of Transportation to close Hanalei Bridge nightly beginning Monday

The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation will be closing the one-lane Hanalei Bridge nightly for necessary construction from Monday, May 12 to Friday, May 16.

Nightly closures will be from 11 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. on Kūhiō Highway (Route 560) between Hanalei Plantation Road and ʻŌhiki Road.

Workers will be replacing deck panels, which can only be done by closing the one-lane bridge. Although there will be no public access during work hours, emergency personnel will have access to the bridge.

Variable message boards have been posted. Weekly Kaua‘i lane closures can be found on the state Department of Transportation website.
