The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Kauaʻi and Niʻihau due to the potential for excessive rainfall.

The likelihood of heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms will increase around Kauaʻi as a low-pressure system approaches and stalls just west of the state.

Moist wind from the south will bring an increase in showers across the county, with the heaviest showers expected Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday morning.

Flood-prone roads and other low-lying areas may be closed due to elevated runoff and overflowing streams. Urban areas may experience more significant flooding and property damage due to rapid runoff.
