Scheduled Kaua‘i lane closures on state roadways for April 19-25

Hawai‘i Department of Transportation announces the following lane closures and road work projects for state roadways on the Garden Isle during the week of April 19-25.

KAUMUALI‘I HIGHWAY (HIGHWAY 50)

KĪPŪ TO LĀWAʻI

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 2.9 and 8.7, in the vicinity of Kīpū Road and Piwai Reservoir, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. April 22-25 for striping.

ʻŌMAʻO TO LĀWAʻI

• RIGHT LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 8 and 10, in the vicinity of Akemama Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 21-25 for cutting grass.

LĀWAʻI TO KALĀHEO

• ROVING LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 10.3 and 12.2, in the vicinity of Kōloa Road and Halewili Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 21-25 for installation of raised pavement markers.

KEKAHA

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 24.3 and 24.4, in the vicinity of Kikiaola Small Boat Harbor, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. April 21-25 for striping and possible guardrail installation.

KŪHIŌ HIGHWAY (HIGHWAYS 56/560)

LĪHU‘E

• RIGHT LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 0 and 2.9, in the vicinity of Rice Street and Kaua‘i Beach Drive, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 21-25 for cutting grass.

KAPA‘A

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 8 and 9.5, in the vicinity of ‘Akia Road to Keālia Lookout, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. April 20-25 for resurfacing, concrete and electrical work. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

MOLOAʻA

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 18.4 and 18.5, in the vicinity of Moloaʻa Stream Bridge, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 21 for routine bridge inspection.

KĪLAUEA

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 22.93 and 22.96, in the vicinity of Kīlauea Stream Bridge, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 22 for routine bridge inspection.

KĀLIHIWAI

• RIGHT LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 23.8 and 25, in the vicinity of Kālihiwai Road, from 1 to 6:30 a.m. April 21-25 for cleaning culverts.

KĀLIHIWAI TO PRINCEVILLE

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 24.4 and 28.1, in the vicinity of Kālihiholo Road and ‘Emmalania Drive, from 8 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. April 20-25 for replacement of signs and markers.

PRINCEVILLE TO HANALEI

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 0.3 and 1.2, in the vicinity of Hanalei Plantation Road and ‘Ohiki Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. April 21-25 for drain line and gutter installation. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
• RIGHT LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 1 and 2, in the vicinity of Hanalei Plantation Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 21-25 for cutting grass.

HANALEI

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE in the westbound direction between mile posts 2.8 and 3.3, in the vicinity of Mālolo Road and ‘Anae Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 21-25 for sidewalk installation. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

HANALEI TO WAIKOKO

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 3.3 and 4.3, in the vicinity of Waikoko Stream Bridge and Waiʻoli Stream Bridge, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. April 21-25 for paving. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

WAIKOKO

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 4.3 and 4.5, in the vicinity of Waikoko Bridge and Lumahaʻi Trailhead, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for slope stabilization of Waikoko Hillside. • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 4.6 and 4.8, in the vicinity of the Waikoko hairpin turn, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 23 for striping, erosion control matting maintenance and best management practices.

HALEWILI ROAD (HIGHWAY 540)

KALĀHEO

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 0 and 1, in the vicinity of Kaumualiʻi Highway, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. April 21-25 for striping and marking installation.

‘ELE‘ELE

• RIGHT LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 1 and 2, in the vicinity of McBride New Mill Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 21-25 for vegetation clearing.

WAIMEA CANYON DRIVE (HIGHWAY 550)

KŌKE‘E

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 11.5 and 14 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. April 21-25 for shoulder stabilization, guardrail work and striping. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
