Scheduled Kaua‘i lane closures on state roadways for April 12-18

Hawai‘i Department of Transportation announces the following lane closures and road work projects for state roadways on the Garden Isle during the week of April 12-18.

NOTE: In observance of Good Friday on April 18, there will be no contraflow or lane closures unless otherwise permitted.

KAUMUALI‘I HIGHWAY (HIGHWAY 50)

LĪHU‘E TO PUHI

  • ROVING SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 0.0 and 1.9, in the vicinity of Rice Street and Anonui Street, from 12:30 to 5 a.m. April 14-16 for installation of raised pavement markers.

LĪHU‘E TO ʻŌMAʻO

  • ROVING RIGHT LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 0.0 and 8.4, in the vicinity of Rice Street and Pūne‘e Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 14-17 for cutting grass.

ʻŌMAʻO TO LĀWAʻI

  • ROVING LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 8.4 and 10.3, in the vicinity of Pūne‘e Road and Kōloa Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 14-17 for installation of raised pavement markers.

KŪHIŌ HIGHWAY (HIGHWAYS 56/560)

LĪHU‘E

  • RIGHT LANE CLOSURE in the southbound direction between mile posts 4.1 and 4.9, in the vicinity of Wailua Golf Course, from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. April 14-17 for guardrail repair.

WAILUA

  • FULL CLOSURE of Wailua Plantation Bridge between mile posts 5.6 and 5.9 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. April 14-15, with a possible closure from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. April 15-16, for deck panel replacement. One lane will be open in either direction. Details: Click here.

KAPA‘A

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 8 and 9.5, in the vicinity of ‘Akia Road and St. Catherine’s from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. April 13-18 for resurfacing, concrete and electrical work. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

MOLOAʻA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction on Moloaʻa Bridge between mile posts 18.4 and 18.6 from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 14-15 for bridge inspection.

KĪLAUEA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction on the Kīlauea Stream Bridge between mile posts 22.9 and 23.2 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 15-17 for bridge inspection.

KILAUEA TO KĀLIHIWAI

  • ROVING SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 23.8 and 25, in the vicinity of Kālihiwai Road to Kālihiwai River, from 1 to 6:30 a.m. April 15-17 for cleaning of culverts.

KĀLIHIWAI TO PRINCEVILLE

  • ROVING SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 24.4 and 28.1, in the vicinity of Kālihiholo Road and ‘Emmalania Drive, from 8 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. April 14-17 for replacement of signs and markers.

HANALEI

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 0.3 and 1.2, in the vicinity of Hanalei Plantation Road and ‘Ohiki Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. April 14-17 for drain line and gutter installation. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane. Note: There might be short holds (roughly 5 minutes) of traffic April 16 while the pipe is being moved for safety.
  • ROVING SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 1 and 2, in the vicinity of Hanalei Bridge to the wildlife refuge, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 14-17 for grass cutting.
  • RIGHT LANE CLOSURE in the westbound direction between mile posts 2.8 and 3.3, in the vicinity of Malolo Road and ʻAnae Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 14-17 for sidewalk installation. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

HANALEI TO WAIKOKO

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 3.3 and 4.3, in the vicinity of Kumu Road, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. April 14-17 for paving. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

WAIKOKO

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 4.3 and 4.5, in the vicinity of Waikoko Bridge and Lumahaʻi Trailhead, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for slope stabilization of Waikoko Hillside. Traffic signal will control alternating traffic through the open lane. Details: Click here.

HALEWILI ROAD (HIGHWAY 540)

KALĀHEO

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 0 and 1, in the vicinity of Kaumuali‘i Highway, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. April 14-17 for striping and marking installation. Traffic will be alternated through the open lane.

‘ELE‘ELE

  • ROVING SHOULDER CLOSURE with LANE SHIFT possible in either direction between mile posts 1.5 and 2.5, in the vicinity of McBride New Mill Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 14-17 for vegetation clearing.

WAIMEA CANYON DRIVE (HIGHWAY 550)

KŌKE‘E

  • RIGHT LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 6.7 and 6.8 from 5:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. April 12 for tree trimming.
  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 11.5 and 14 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. April 14-17 for shoulder stabilization, guardrail work and striping. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

KUAMOʻO ROAD (HIGHWAY 580)

WAILUA HOMESTEADS

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 1.7 and 4, in the vicinity of Kahawai Place and Hawaiiana Street, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. April 14-17 for striping and marker installation. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

MA‘ALO ROAD (HIGHWAY 583)

HANAMĀ‘ULU/WAILUA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 1 and 2 from 4 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. April 12 for grass cutting.

Lane closure schedules can change at any time without notice. All projects are weather permitting.
