After-School Plus program registration begins next week for 2025-26 school year
Hawaiʻi Department of Education and After-School Plus, or A+, program providers statewide are encouraging families to register for the upcoming 2025-26 school year.

Online and in-person A+ registration opens at 4 p.m. April 14.
A+ programs provide safe, supervised after-school care for public elementary school students in grades K-6 whose parents or guardians are working, attending school or participating in job training programs during after-school hours.
Families must submit proof of eligibility for both parents or legal guardians, regardless of marital status, to register for A+.
The following documents are required for registration:
- For employed parents: Current pay stubs (dated within the past 30 days) or a letter from an employer verifying work hours.
- For self-employed/independent contractors: General excise tax license and either a tax return with Schedule C or a recent business checking account statement.
- For parents attending school: A class schedule on official school letterhead displaying the student’s name, school and course schedule.
- For parents in job training programs: A DHS_728 First-to-Work approval letter.
- If applicable: Custody documents and proof of legal guardianship.
- If applicable: Foster parent documents (must be resubmitted each school year).
To avoid duplicate registrations, only one household member should apply online.
Online and in-person registrations will be processed in the order they are received. Incomplete applications could be delayed, and space might fill before enrollment is confirmed.
Visit the Hawaiʻi Department of Education A+ website to register online. In-person registration can be done at the child’s school site.
Registration forms and parent handbooks can be downloaded from the above A+ site, but printed copies also are available at schools.
The monthly A+ program fee is $200 for the 2025-26 school year, due the first program day of each month.
Income-eligible families can apply for financial assistance through the Hawaiʻi Department of Human Services A+ subsidy program.
Subsidy applicants must provide proof of income for all household members each school year. An eligibility estimation calculator is available on the state Department of Education A+ website.
Visit the Hawaiʻi Department of Education A+ website or your child’s A+ provider’s website for additional information or further assistance.
