Hanapēpē Bridge closure extended through end of July
Motorists on the Garden Isle should be aware that Hanapēpē Bridge on Hanapēpē Road will continue to be closed through July 31 because of construction schedule delays.

Kaua‘i County Department of Public Works and its contractor for the $3 million bridge repair and improvement project report that work continues from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays, weather permitting; however, the bridge remains closed at all times.
Motorists are advised to make appropriate arrangements to accommodate the bridge closure:
- Use alternate routes.
- Follow detour signs.
- Drive with caution.
- Allow for extra time getting to destinations.
Officials thank the community for its understanding and patience.
Construction work started in July 2024 and was originally estimated to be completed by this month.
Hanapēpē Bridge improvements and repairs, among others, include:
- Replacing the pedestrian walkway.
- Spalled concrete repairs to the bridge abutments, piers and deck.
- Reinforcement and thickening of the bridge deck.
- An overlay with a new asphalt surface.
The bridge’s historical appearance will remain the same.
