Collections scheduled for residents looking to dispose of household hazardous waste

Kauaʻi County has household hazardous waste collection events scheduled for 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 29-30.

Collection sites will be available March 29 at Hanapēpē Baseyard, located at 4380 Lele Road, and Kapa‘a Baseyard, located at 4900 Kahau Road.

Items can be dropped off March 30 at ʻAnāina Hou Community Park, behind Kauaʻi Mini Golf at 5-2723 Kūhiō Highway, and Kaua‘i Resource Center, located at 3460 ʻAhukini Road, in front of the Līhu‘e transfer station.

Accepted materials include:

  • Automotive products.
  • Lead-acid batteries.
  • Lawn and garden products.
  • Oil-based paints, thinners and stains.
  • Fluorescent lights.
  • Alkaline, lithium and NiCad Batteries.

Unacceptable items include:

  • eWaste.
  • Propane tanks.
  • Medical waste.
  • Latex paint.
  • Tires.
  • Used motor oil.
  • Fireworks.
  • Ammunition.
  • Flares.

Household hazardous collection events are for residents only.

ADVERTISEMENT

Businesses, government agencies, nonprofits and farmers should not bring materials to these events and will be turned away.
