Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative has restored power to the majority of Kaua‘i as of 8 p.m.

Approximately 1,500 members remain without power at this time, primarily in Wainiha on the North Shore, Lāwai on the East Side and Kōkeʻe on the West Side.

Members should anticipate power being out until Friday, according to the utility cooperative, as power cannot safely be restored tonight night due to hazardous conditions.

Tonight, crew response is limited to emergency or large new outages.

“Mahalo for your patience and for our crews and staff who have been working for almost 20 hours straight in restoration efforts,” a utility spokesperson said.

Current outages can be tracked on the Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative Outage Center. Note that the number of customers without power is listed as “Total Customers Affected.”
