An Arizona-based company purchased 11 acres of vacant land fronting Kūhiō Highway in Līhu‘e for $13.25 million, with plans to build a new U-Haul center, according to the commercial real estate firm that handled the sale for the seller.

Amerco Real Estate Company bought the parcel, located between Wilcox Medical Center and Walmart, from the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, a philanthropic organization with offices in Honolulu and Baltimore.

Amerco Real Estate Company intends to construct a U-Haul center with truck and trailer sharing, a three-story self-storage building, U-Box portable storage and moving containers, and a repair shop, according to Alika Cosner, the senior vice president of Colliers Hawai‘i, which represented the Weinberg Foundation in the recent transaction.

The Weinberg Foundation also owns the land the Līhu‘e Walmart is built on.
