Kaua‘i firefighters control brush fire at Salt Pond Beach Park

Kaua‘i Fire Department firefighters have controlled a brush fire at Salt Pond Beach Park near Lele Road and Lokokai Road on the West Side of the island.

Crews were still on scene at 8:30 p.m. to extinguish remaining hot spots. There were no reports of damaged structures or injuries.

Fire officials estimate that 4 to 5 acres were scorched. According to a preliminary report, the fire was reported shortly before 4:30 p.m.

Crews with the Hanapēpē and Kalāheo stations, Rescue 1, Tender 1, Air 1, private landowners, the Kaua‘i Police Department, the department of public works and the on-duty battalion chief responded to the incident.

The Kaua‘i Emergency Management Agency also monitored the blaze. There are no road closures.
