The nonprofit Kaua‘i Historical Society is celebrating “Mu‘umu‘u Month” this January with a slate of events beginning with a mayoral proclamation gathering on Jan. 3.

Later that day, a trivia night dedicated to Hawai‘i history—with prizes for the winning team—will be held at Kaua‘i Veterans Center in Līhu‘e. The competition will be followed by a screening of “Blue Hawai‘i,” the iconic Elvis Presley musical filmed at the Coco Palms resort.

“We’ve partnered with so many amazing local organizations … You’re gonna wanna zoom in for this one,” states a Kaua‘i Historical Society post on Facebook.

At the trivia night, food and movie snacks will be sold by the Kaua’i Veterans Center, and warm kūlolo and ice cream will be sold by Kaua’i Historical Society.

Other Mu‘umu‘u Month events scheduled across Kaua‘i throughout January include several museum and walking tours, keiki activities and more. Nearly all events held during the month-long celebration are free: The only exception is the Mu‘umu‘u Pāʻina Luncheon on Jan. 19 at Smith’s Tropical Paradise in Wailua.
