Day 3 of multiagency search at Hanakāpī‘ai Beach continues for missing Alaska visitor

Multiple agencies continue their search today for a missing 32-year-old woman visiting from Alaska who went missing Wednesday in waters off Hanakāpī‘ai Beach.

Kaua‘i Police Department identified the woman as Lauren M. Cameron of Anchorage, Alaska.

Personnel with the Kaua‘i Police Department, Kaua‘i Fire Department, Kaua‘i County Ocean Safety Bureau and Hawai‘i Department of Land and Natural Resource resumed their this morning along the coastline and in the waters off Hanakāpī‘ai Beach.

Kaua‘i Fire Department personnel responded Wednesday to a report of a missing swimmer shortly after 3 p.m. Wednesday in waterss off Hanakāpī‘ai Beach.

Cameron is reported to have entered the water and was swept into the ocean by strong currents.

Personnel with the Kaua‘i Fire Department, Ocean Safety Bureau, U.S. Coast Guard and other agencies have conducted search operations since Cameron was reported missing Wednesday afternoon.

Updates about the search will be provided as more information becomes available.
