Multiagency search continues for missing Alaska woman in waters off Hanakāpī‘ai
A multiagency search continues today for a 32-year-old woman visiting from Alaska who went missing Wednesday afternoon in waters off Hanakāpī‘ai Beach on Kaua’i’s Nā Pali Coast.
The missing woman’s identity has not been released.
Personnel with Kaua‘i Police Department, Kaua‘i Fire Department, Kaua‘i County Ocean Safety Bureau, U.S. Coast Guard and Hawai‘i Department of Land and Natural Resources are part of the search effort.
Kaua‘i Fire Department personnel responded shortly after 3 p.m. Wednesday following the report of a missing swimmer at the beach. Kaua’i Fire Department and Ocean Safety Bureau personnel searched Wednesday afternoon, and U.S. Coast Guard personnel continued searching through the evening.
First responders resumed the search Thursday morning along the coastline and in waters off Hanakāpī‘ai Beach.
