Annual fundraiser brings in $60k for Kaua‘i keiki
Approximately $60,000 was raised during the third annual Kanikapila in Paradise for the Boys & Girls Club of Hawai‘i on Kaua‘i.
The Saturday event took place at Keoki’s Paradise, located in Kōloa, and was hosted by TS Restaurants Legacy of Aloha Foundation and sponsored by the Chan Zuckerberg Kauaʻi Community Fund. Two hundred guests, including Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami, Rep. Luke Evslin and Kaua‘i County Council member Arryl Kaneshiro, attended to help ensure Kauaʻi keiki continue having mentorship and protection outside of school hours as provided by the Boys and Girls Club of Hawaiʻi, according to a press release regarding the event.
The money raised will support Kauaʻi clubhouses in Kapaʻa, Līhuʻe and Waimea.
Since 1976, the Boys & Girls Club of Hawai‘i has worked to inspire young people, ranging in age from 7 to 17, to become responsible citizens. The Boys & Girls Club creates a safe place for kids to grow, provides mentoring by professionally-trained staff, nurtures character development and life-enhancing skills, and provides hope and opportunity to the youth of Kaua’i.
