A community meeting is scheduled this weekend to discuss a planned breakwater maintenance project at Lydgate Beach Park.

The Friends of Kamalani and Lydgate Park and Oceanit Laboratories, with support from Kaua‘i County, will host the meeting from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the Conservatory Room at Hilton Garden Inn Kaua‘i, located at 3-5920 Kūhiō Highway, in Kapa‘a, adjacent to Lydgate Beach Park.

The purpose of the meeting is to engage the community in discussing options for a long-term breakwater maintenance plan at the park to preserve Morgan’s Ponds, its shoreline and its breakwater.

This is a follow-up to the initial open house outreach talk story session in July, during which many ideas were gathered.

Those ideas became the basis for alternative plans that will be presented during Saturday’s meeting.

For more information about the meeting, contact Berna Senelly with Oceanit Laboratories by calling 817-422-1372 or via email at bsenelly@oceanit.com.
