High surf advisory extended through today for parts of Kaua‘i, Ni‘ihau
The National Weather Service has extended a high surf advisory for the north and west shorelines of Kaua‘i and Ni‘ihau through today.
The advisory is now in effect until 6 p.m. It was initially issued Nov. 23.
Surf along exposed north- and west-facing shores is expected to hold near advisory level today before steadily declining tonight and through midweek as a medium-period northwest swell begins to fade.
The National Weather Service Honolulu office forecasts surf of 12 to 16 feet yet this morning, easing to 10 to 15 feet this afternoon, producing strong breaking waves and strong currents that will make swimming and other ocean activities along the affeted shores dangerous.
The public is advised to heed all advice from Ocean Safety officials. When in doubt, don`t go out.
