Firefighters extinguish brush fire in Koke‘e Saturday night

Firefighters responded to a brush fire that broke out in Koke‘e Saturday night. No injuries were reported and no structures were threatened.

The County of Kauaʻi Communications Team made the announcement in a Sunday press release, which said:

At around 8:15 p.m. on Saturday, firefighters were dispatched to a brush fire reported near mile marker 6 along Koke‘e Road.

Firefighters from the Waimea fire station were first on scene where they found a brush fire approximately 100 yards by 100 yards in the western valley off Koke‘e Road.

Firefighters from the Hanapēpē fire station and the on-duty battalion chief also responded to the call.

The fire was quickly knocked down and contained after about 15 minutes. Personnel remained on scene to extinguish hot spots and fully extinguish the fire.

The scene was cleared shortly before 10 p.m.

The cause of the fire is undetermined.
