Fire mitigation work for portions of Ninini Point will start on Monday, with an estimated completion of next summer, the County of Kaua’i said in a news release.

The county’s Public Information Office said the necessary work will allow various crews to cut and maintain vegetation and remove debris, including abandoned vehicles, that are on the property.

“For the safety of the public and workers, the community is strongly advised to avoid the affected work area,” the statement said.

The fire mitigation work comes about one month after the County of Kaua’i Fire Department urged the community to be vigilant of fires and offered safety guidance to prevent wildfires.
