Minor coastal flooding on Kaua‘i anticipated through Tuesday afternoon; flooding potential increased on South Shore

Higher-than-predicted water levels – combined with near-peak monthly tides – will lead to minor coastal flooding on Kaua‘i and elsewhere in Hawai‘i.

The flooding is projected to occur Monday afternoon and likely again Tuesday afternoon.

As a result, the National Weather Service has put a coastal flood statement into effect on Kaua‘i and elsewhere in the state.

A south swell moving through will increase the flooding potential along south-facing shores. Water levels will gradually lower through the rest of the week.

Isolated minor coastal flooding along shorelines and low-lying coastal areas of all
islands is anticipated through Tuesday afternoon. Other impacts include flooding of beaches that are normally dry, minor coastal erosion and saltwater inundation.
