Solid Waste Division update: Kekaha Landfill reopens following daylong closure

2:10 p.m. Aug. 19 update: County of Kaua‘i officials report that the Kekaha Landfill is now open.

1:20 p.m. Aug. 19 update: Due to the landfill closure, trash service is closed at the Hanalei refuse transfer station.

However, all other services at Hanalei are available. Updates will be posted when the site reopens.

12:30 p.m. Aug. 19 update: Due to the landfill closure, trash service is closed at the Hanapēpē refuse transfer station.

11:30 a.m. Aug. 19 update: Due to the closure of Kekaha Landfill, trash service is closed at the Kapa‘a refuse transfer station, according to the Solid Waste Division.

Original post: The county of Kaua‘i Solid Waste Division has reported the following closures for Aug. 19:

• Due to equipment failure, the Līhu‘e refuse transfer station is closed until further notice.
• The Kekaha Landfill is also closed due to equipment issues.

Updates will be posted when both sites reopen. During this closure, customers may utilize the Kapa‘a or Hanapēpē refuse transfer stations.
