Health officials report rise in COVID-19 cases statewide while Garden Isle numbers trend down

Hawai‘i Department of Health is reporting high levels of COVID-19 activity in the state and is advising the public to take precautions.

The state released its weekly numbers for June 4-10 this afternoon which shows a total active of 1,330 active cases statewide. The seven-day daily average cases is 172, an increase of 22 cases from the previous week.

Kaua‘i County, however, is the only county that is reporting a decline in cases.

The seven-day case average is 12, which is a decrease of one from the week prior. The Garden Isle also has the least amount of active cases at 84.

The DOH Respiratory Disease Dashboard shows COVID-19 disease activity level is in the red, or high activity level, indicating the virus is circulating at high levels compared with historic trends.

This high level means that recommended precautions are more important for reducing risk.

DOH continues to monitor this activity and recommends the following:

• Get a COVID-19 shot.
• If you feel sick, stay home and away from others.
• Wear a well-fitting mask indoors when around people.
• Stay outdoors or in a well-ventilated area to reduce chances of COVID transmission.
• Take a COVID-19 test if you exhibit symptoms.
