Massachusetts visitor rescued while hiking near Kalalau Beach

First responders with the Kaua‘i Fire Department on May 2 rescued a visitor who was hiking in Kalalau.

Shortly after 2 p.m. Thursday, the Fire Department received a report of an apparently dehydrated hiker near Kalalau Beach.

First responders with Rescue 3 aboard Air 1 found the 36-year-old Massachusetts woman, who was transported to Princeville Airport to wait for personnel from the Hanalei Fire Station and American Medical Response.

After being assessed by medical personnel, the woman declined medical treatment and was released.

Rescue personnel cleared the area shortly after 4 p.m.
