Lydgate Beach Park and Kamalani Playground will again be open to the public as of Thursday.

However, the Kaua‘i County Department of Parks and Recreation reports Morgan’s Ponds will remain closed until further notice.

Lydgate Beach Park was closed because of safety concerns following flooding April 12. Department of Parks and Recreation Director Pat Porter said Hawai‘i Department of Health officials deemed the area safe after it was cleaned and maintained by county crews.

The department also thanks the Friends of Kamalani for its efforts at Lydgate Beach Park. The group will conduct beach cleanup activities in the Morgan’s Ponds area starting Thursday and continuing through the weekend.
