The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for Kaua‘i County beginning at noon Thursday.

A slow-moving convergence band will approach Kaua‘i and Ni‘ihau from the west on Thursday and linger through Friday, bringing the potential for heavy showers and thunderstorms that could lead to flash flooding. Showers will move over the islands from the south, increasing the potential for flooding in normally dry leeward areas.

Flood prone roads and other low-lying areas may be closed due to elevated runoff and overflowing streams. Urban areas may receive more significant flooding and property damage due to rapid runoff.
