Traveling to Big Island for Merrie Monarch? Airline offering free shuttle rides around Hilo

The County of Hawaiʻi has entered into a partnership with Hawaiian Airlines and Big Island Candies to provide complimentary shuttle service during the celebrated Merrie Monarch Festival.

The initiative aims to enhance the experience for both residents and visitors shopping at the Merrie Monarch Hawaiian Arts & Crafts Fair, offering convenient transportation between key locations in Hilo.

Shuttle Service Details:

  • Dates and Hours: April 4 and April 5, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Shuttle A Stops: Hilo Airport; Prince Kūhiō Mall; Big Island Candies; Civic Center; and Banyan Drive.
  • Shuttle B Stops: Hilo Airport; Banyan Drive; Civic Center; Big Island Candies; and Prince Kūhiō Mall.
  • Eligibility: Passengers with Hawaiian Airlines boarding passes dated between March 30, 2024, and April 5, 2024, to Hilo or Kona are eligible for complimentary shuttle rides. Present your boarding pass upon boarding at each stop.

“This shuttle service is a testament to Hawaiian Airlines and Big Island Candies’ commitment to providing a welcoming and accessible experience for all attending the Merrie Monarch Festival,” County of Hawai‘i officials said Monday. “We encourage everyone to take advantage of this convenient and eco-friendly transportation option.”
