Hiker transported to hospital after falling nearly 30 feet on Kaua‘i trail

First responders rescued a Michigan woman near the Hanakāpī‘ai Trail in Hā‘ena after falling 20 to 30 feet.

Kaua‘i Firefighters were dispatched to the trail at about 1 p.m. on Thursday.

According to a preliminary report, first responders located the 34-year-old hiker walking to the Hanakāpī‘ai Beach landing zone at approximately 1:45 p.m. The visitor fell about 20 to 30 feet on the trail and suffered injuries to her head and other parts of her body.

First responders loaded the woman onto Air 1 and transported her to the Princeville Airport to awaiting AMR and KFD personnel.

AMR personnel continued treatment of the hiker before transporting her to Wilcox Medical Center.

The scene was cleared shortly before 4:25 p.m.
